MOU Shams Power

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Management & Technology and Shams Power LTD. 

Shams Power Limited, established in 2015, leads Pakistan's solar energy sector, specializing in premium solar power solutions for Commercial and Industrial sectors.

  • Originating from a joint venture between PITCO and Orient Operating Company, Shams Power is committed to operational excellence and cutting-edge technology.
  • Operating under the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model, Shams Power serves as a catalyst for ambitious Clean Energy projects in Pakistan.
  • Distinguished clients include METRO Cash & Carry Pakistan, Coca-Cola, Hyundai Nishat Motors, and more, attesting to operational excellence.
  • Holder of a Distribution License from NEPRA since 2019, Shams Power is recognized as a reputable and authorized energy service provider in Pakistan.
  • Engaged in collaborative initiatives, the recent MoU with UMT focuses on training programs, research assistance, and job opportunities for engineering students.

Shams Power Limited and UMT have agreed on the following:
  • Implementation of a comprehensive training program for UMT engineering students, covering technical and soft skills and providing required resources.
  • Shams Power to extend research assistance for UMT students and faculty members.
  • Shams Power to actively connect UMT students with job and internship opportunities within its network.
  • UMT to share the database of engineering students and alumni with Shams Power for recruitment and industry awareness sessions.
  • Cross-university collaboration, allowing students from other institutions to attend Solar "EmpowHer" training sessions hosted by Shams Power at UMT.
  • Utilization of UMT venues by Shams Power for organizing training sessions, workshops, and events beneficial to UMT students.
